Q: Please tell us a bit about yourself and your family.

I am a lifelong Bucks County resident. I grew up in Newtown and now live in Warrington. I grew up with my incredible parents and 6 siblings. All of my siblings still live in the general area and we are all pretty close. I went to St. Andrews for school and ArchBishop Wood High School. I still hang out with friends from high school. I went to Philadelphia College of Textile and Science for College. I was paying for most of my college myself and that is what I could afford at the time. I studied accounting in college and minored in economics. Now I live in Warrington with my wife Janine. We got married in 1987 right out of college. We have 2 children and 5 amazing grandsons. My wife and I are so proud of our kids and grandkids.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career.

As I mentioned, I got my degree in accounting. This field opened up so many doors for me. I began my career at KPMG, one of the world’s largest firms. I was a part of their audit team for about 5 years. In my journey in accounting I realized that a job was amazing to have, but my main focus was really my family. I wanted to dedicate my life to them and find a job where I could do that. I left public accounting and hopped around to a few different companies. Most of my career has been in working with multi unit building operations, working on the operations finance side of this business. Understanding accounting allowed me to communicate with all of the different people involved as I did this job. I worked for many different companies like Nutrisystem and Wendys. In this role I had to work with everyone from the CEO down to the cashier’s and everyone in between. I had to be able to speak their language on every level. I loved doing that. After that I moved to a company called Icon Business Solutions. I was originally going to be their Northeast controller. By the time I got hired I was working with the entire East Coast. Within 6 months at this job I had from the Mississippi East. By about a year into the job I was controlling the entire United States. I was instrumental in helping the business acquire different businesses. It was way cool. I also had the wonderful opportunity of the disposition, which was releasing parts of the business that were not working. I was tasked with terminating many people and that was really tough. I knew I was doing the right thing though. I took the time in these situations to find solutions for people to get them what they needed to move forward. I didn’t want to leave people distressed. I saw this as an opportunity to be able to help people even in these tough times. I learned that business has to have a soul and so many don’t. The business itself doesn’t have a soul, the people in a business do. This really showed me that we have to be good to people. We have to care for each individual person in the business. That is what lets the cream rise to the top. The people in a business are what matter. Ultimately after one year of terminating around 250-300 people the company told me they had one more person to terminate, me. This was the time I realized there is not a soul in business. It pushed me to want to do something more.

This led me to joining my family’s company John G. Moser and Sons about 12 years ago. The goal was to help my dad towards his retirement. My brother Chris and I bought the business from my dad in 2012. Being a part of this business is a big honor and a big responsibility to me. Both of my parents have passed away in the last couple of years. This makes the responsibility of upholding my family name even heavier for me. I am very aware that I present my family’s name on my shirt and with my work every single day. For my family and for the family we have built in our company, we have no room to screw up.

Our company, John G. Moser and Sons, has been around since 1952. We are 72 years into the business. John G. was my grandfather and my father was the son. My brother and I own the business now and we have a nephew in the business with us being the 4th generation. We are not the cheapest company on the block, I know that. I can promise you though that when we finish a job the work will be impeccable.

I have also been very involved in baseball for my entire life. I began when I was 6 years old and am still involved today. Right now I am an umpire for a little league in Doylestown, Warrington, and a few other places. I have been everything from player, to coach, to president of the league. I love being involved in baseball and getting to influence the next generation in this way. To me it is about helping the youth of our community become good kids so they can become good young adults, good adults and good citizens. If we can start that on a baseball field that is great. When I was president I would tell the coaches that if they have kids that want to come back year after year then they have been successful. It was not about winning championships, it was about inspiring the kids.

Another important role to me is being the Judge of elections in Warrington. I do it to be able to help people get what they need done. For me it is about helping people and giving them a space to talk to each other, it is not about which side you lean on. I really believe that if we all were willing to talk to each other more we would have a better world.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

I love the people. I also love making people’s homes into something they love and are proud of.

Q: What is a “Must do” for someone visiting our community?

I love all of the phenomenal views here in Bucks County. I would tell people to go check out the views on the Delaware River in New Hope. I also love Buckingham. My jaw drops when I drive through Buckingham. One really cool thing we have done in Bucks County is take a Hot Air Balloon ride over the county. It is amazing the things you notice when you’re flying over your home. I would recommend it to anyone.

Q: What are some of your favorite restaurants in the area?

We also have tremendous restaurants in this area. One of my favorites is on Street Rd. I love Rey Azteca. They have a seafood burrito that is a killer.

Q: What is your favorite place you have traveled to and where do you want to go next?

I have been fortunate enough to get to travel to just about every city in the US. My favorite is Charleston, South Carolina. Between the history and the people I love it there. The architecture and food is also phenomenal there. Next I would really like to visit the Florida Keys. I am not so much an island guy, but I do really enjoy the island mindset.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Most of what I watch are sports and comedies. I really love The Office and Seinfeld. I could also watch any Steve Martin movie over and over again. I love to laugh everyday.

Q: What advice would you give to people? **Maybe we pick one or two of these**

Work on being able to talk to anybody about anything. You will be amazed at the doors that will open to you if you can master this skill. I think it is not so much about who you know, it is more about who knows you. If I have projected myself as someone of integrity, good standing, and someone fun to be around people will remember who I am.

Q: What is your favorite band or music genre?

I love Country music. I think the current country is phenomenal. I love the stories that the music tells. Eric Church is one of my favorite artists.

Q: What is your favorite holiday and why?

My favorite holiday is Independence Day. I love the summer. Independence Day feels like a great kickoff to the summer. People are generally so happy in the Summer and I love being around that.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

Thinking about how my kids see me is what inspires me to be better. Honesty, integrity, doing what’s right, caring about people, making a living and caring for your family are the things that matter to me. I never for a second want my kids to be disappointed in what I do or who I am. I am most proud to have my kids proud of me.

Q: What are one or two of your favorite smells?

I love the smell of fresh Spring rain and pretty much any seafood being cooked.

Q: What words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Love and safety. Whatever we go through, home is the one place we should be safe. With our thoughts, with our fears,
