Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I have a terrific, and VERY patient hubby, Steve. We have been married for 47
years. Our son Eric is 43 years old. He is a very talented DJ, party planner, and event coordinator in the area. We also have an amazing, smart, and beautiful 40-year-old daughter, Randi. She is a veterinary pathologist, who resides in Texas. Both kids are married with a slew of pets, no human babies.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I have had many jobs since graduating from Northeast High School, in 1971. My
very first job was secretary for First Penna Bank, for 7 years before becoming pregnant with Eric. 2 years later I got pregnant with Randi. A few years later I worked as a nursery schoolteacher, and camp counselor at the school where she attended until public school started. Then when the kids were about 5 and 3, I decided to go back to college part time. Bubby Rosie and Pop Pop Marty watched the kids while I began my college experience. I started part time in Community College and got my associates degree in Elementary Ed. After that I transferred to Holy Family College and made a mistake of changing majors to nursing. In hindsight I should have stayed in elementary education, because of my love of children. I Got my bachelor’s degree in nursing after 11 years. I then Moved from the Northeast to Holland and went to work as a geriatric nurse first at a nursing home in the area, then as a pediatric nurse in the area. From there, things changed and I left that job. A few years went by and I started working as a crossing guard for the Council Rock School district. I also worked for a couple fast food restaurants in the area. I have now been  a crossing guard for nearly 13 years.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

A couple favorites restaurants in the area are Francesco’s in Newtown and Madison Cafe in Holland. Great Breakfast!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

We moved here from the Northeast in 1994 and have been in Holland to this day.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

That’s a hard one. There are so many it’s hard to pinpoint, but I am VERY involved in
community theatre, 5 theatres to be exact. I met Eddie Mecca who came to see one of my
shows, that was thrilling! If anyone does not remember him, he was Carmine from Laverne and Shirley. There are so many people, teachers, business owners, parents of my kids who I have grown to love. I have seen many of them grow up from little babies, to graduating Holland Elementary. I have loved getting close to their amazing parents, and of course, all their fur babies who have gotten one too many treats from me.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would take a trip to Texas, because of Covid, etc. I haven’t seen my daughter in a LONG
time.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

My favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, Ten Commandments, or Gone with the Wind. They don’t make them like this anymore. I just saw West Side Story, very good, but not like original. Law and Order: SVU is my favorite TV show.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Be true to yourself, be kind, always help a person in need. Try to be the best you can be in
all you do, be respectful, appreciate what you have, because you could lose it ‘just’ like that.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

Don’t laugh, I would love to be in a sitcom. I love comedy, I feel laughter is the best
medicine.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

I love the 4 Seasons, or the Beach Boys. I listen to oldies all the time in the car.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you
love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?

I would meet Carol Burnett. I watched all her shows, she is awesome. We would go to Green Parrot, then out for ice cream.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

One thing I love, is the friendliness of the people.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

On a sitcom- I wish.

about you?

I play the drums, and I used to be in a band.

  1. Great interview and great story. We know so little about the people in the community other than what we see firsthand. Everybody has a past and some of those are very interesting.
