I grew up in a small town in central Massachusetts.  I moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland when I was 13, where I attended high school.  I moved to Bucks County, PA shortly thereafter and have lived here ever since.  I attended Holy Family University for my undergraduate degree and Rider University for my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology.  I love all animals, love to travel, and feel happiest when I’m with my family.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

My husband Eric and I have been married for almost 18 years. We have 2 daughters, Halle (14) and Sydney (11).  We also have 2 Goldendoodles, Fozzie and Samson, and a baby turtle named Walter.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I worked as a School Counselor for over 15 years before opening a private practice in Newtown, PA in 2019.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.  I love my job!   I have gotten to know so many amazingly brave people in our community and have watched them grow into better versions of themselves.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

We love Aldo’s Italian Restaurant.  They have great food!  Our go-to breakfast spot is Café Madison.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I’ve lived in Holland, PA for almost 8 years, Bucks County 25 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

This is tough!  I get to meet so many fascinating people in my line of work, but if I had to choose just one, I’d say Frank Murphy.  Frank teaches 6th grade at Holland Elementary.  He makes his students feel like family.  He teaches leadership skills and lessons that are meaningful and empowering.  He is also a children’s books author!  He’s the Ted Lasso of teaching!   If you are lucky enough to know Frank, you will have a friend for life.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Australia.  My family vacationed there in the summer of 2018 and it was hands down my favorite place in the world.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t have a favorite movie.  TV shows:  Ted Lasso, Ozark, and Breaking Bad.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Open your mind and refrain from thinking you have it all figured out!  Most of us all want the same things but have different approaches.  What works for some may not work for all, but respect, empathy, and an open-mind can truly change the world!  Stop worrying about being right and aim to understand.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

I’d like to travel to every continent in the world at least once.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

Pearl Jam or Taylor Swift

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

I love Village Shires Pharmacy.  It has a small-town feel, a friendly staff, and they are always available and have everything you need!  It reminds me of a pharmacy where I grew up, and I hope it always stays small.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

I’d love to meet Eddie Vedder and I’d likely choose an outside table at Rocco’s at the Brick.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

I always call Holland the hidden gem of Council Rock School District.  It’s sandwiched between Richboro and Newtown and has a small town feel without being over commercialized

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I hope to still be working full-time in my private practice, vacationing whenever I can, and continuing to watch my girls play Volleyball.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

My father died when I was 11-years-old.  He took his life.  I used to feel ashamed but now I know mental health is far more complicated.  He chose this route because he thought it was his only option.  People, especially men, have a hard time showing vulnerability and asking for help.  We’ve come a long way in 33 years, but we can still do better!

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

The Grand Tetons are breathtakingly beautiful.  The 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Drive in Australia are mind-blowing.  Sedona, the Rocky Mountains, the Napali Coast of Kauai, the Great Barrier Reef…they are ALL the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

July and Christmas.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

The staff at Holland Elementary!  Joe MacClay, Andrea Mangold, Allie Bailey, Dan Smith, Frank Murphy…and many many more!  All are  just amazingly good at what they do! Also, Tom Williams, a former High School Counselor and the current CARES Coordinator at Council Rock South is top notch!

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My husband.   He has more integrity and drive than anyone I know.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?

The ocean, freshly cut Christmas trees, and fresh baked cookies.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Love, family, safety
