Q: Please tell us a bit about yourself and your family.

My little family is a true blessing from God. I started my family when I was 45 years old and single. Becoming a foster parent for several different babies. Adopting 2 of them.  I wish I could take in more but I am already out numbered. So now I focus on finding more foster parents. There are so many babies in Bucks County that need a loving home. Like so many women I was not able to have children due to Endometriosis. I went through 7 years of infertility treatments with no success. When I decided to give up on having children, I met a very special person.  Her name was Karen, she worked for Bucks County Children and Youth. She said there are so many babies looking for a home.  It is risky but totally worth it. I have fostered many babies through 9 years. Eight years later and I have been lucky enough to get to adopt 2 of those babies. I have an active little boy named Nicholas who plays tennis and signed up for flag football.  My daughter Madison is 4 years old and loves to sing, dance and wear makeup.  If someone is interested in more information on fostering, I would be happy to meet, or you can contact Bucks County Children and Youth.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career.

Currently I work at W. Atlee Burpee in Warminster PA as a Customer Service Rep. I had lost my job due to the Pandemic and got a seasonal job at Burpee. Eventually they hired me on full time.  I have been there for over 2 years now. I find speaking with gardeners all over the US every day is very fun and interesting. In the past I was a tennis club owner and high school tennis coach.  My family-built Mill Creek Tennis Club back in the 70’s.  My brother and I took over the reins 12 years ago. Then 2 years ago, we walked away from it. The move was very difficult, but necessary.  I also coached the Neshaminy Girls Tennis Team for 9 years.  Once all my relatives had graduated from the school it was time to step away. My dream is to one day be a Foster Parent Recruiter.

Q: What do you love most about what you do?

Working in the world of plants and seeds has become a joy I did not know I would love so much. It’s a great company to work for and the people I work with make it so much fun. Becoming a gardener and having something to do with the kids is so wonderful. Watching my children enjoying it and trying the vegetables that we grow. Also learning that it takes patience, no instant results.  We share what we grow with our family and friends.

Q: What is a “Must do” for someone visiting our community?

There are so many great parks here. As a family we enjoy all the local events that Northampton Township puts on. Our area is very family focused.  My son attends the Summer Camp through the Northampton Park and Recreation, and he cannot wait for it to start again. We also love the Fire and Safety month events, and of course meeting Santa and having hot cocoa every Christmas at the Municipal Building.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Las Vegas- I’m a huge Raider fan so I would love to go see a home game.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Any Tom Hanks movie.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

Leap and the net will appear.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

I would love to go to Wimbledon one day because I love Tennis!

Q: What is your favorite band or music genre?

Boston because it reminds me of my high school friends.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

I would go out with all my high school girlfriends, and we would go to Rocco’s at The Brick.

Q: What are some of your favorite things about our community?

I love that there are so many family activities all over Bucks County. We have so many farms, parks, craft fairs, amusement parks, festivals and more.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

In 5 years, I see myself cheering my kids on in whatever they choose to play or do. In 10 years, I will have teenagers so I’m a little afraid to think about it.

Q: What is something interesting that even your friends or family may not know about you?

I used to play in Backgammon Tournaments. I always played just for fun.  When I lived in Florida briefly there was a restaurant that had started Backgammon tournaments.  Nowadays it is all online.

Q: What is your favorite holiday and why?

Thanksgiving- I love to cook so it’s like the Super Bowl of cooking.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

My kids and my mom inspire me so much. I also belong to a Single Parent Support Group at my church, and they all inspire me with love and faith. My church is in Bensalem, Christian Life Church.  https://clconline.org/
