Q: Please tell us a bit about yourself and your family.
I grew up in North East Philly and I still have family there now. I moved to Bucks County in 2020 from Philly. I was ready to be done renting in the city and it was a great time to buy. I have 2 under 2 at home. My wife Kelly and I have 2 boys. Declan is 21 months old and Cayden is 5 months. My older son keeps us very busy with how active he is. We live in Warrington. My wife and I met the old fashioned way at a bar. She was walking around with 2 beers in her hand and I asked her why she was double fisting. She said she didn’t know and that is how we started talking. We have been together for 7.5 years now and married for 3.5 years. Our October 2020 wedding was one of the first major events a lot of people attended coming out of the pandemic.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career.
I went to Widener University for college. After I graduated I got a job for Comcast Sports Net as a cameraman. I realized pretty early with my job as a cameraman I was not playing to my greatest strengths. My position was more of being told to do things blindly. My personality is a lot more investigative than that. When someone tells me what to do I like to find the why behind it. I like to understand how things work and get to see the full picture of something. I think that is a really good quality to have when working in sales. It pushes you to dig deep to understand why people say what they do and make the decisions that they do. If you better understand their “why” you can serve them better. It was a pretty natural progression for me that after my job in media I got a job in sales. I really enjoyed working in the media field, but felt I could be using my talent for something greater. I started working for a company that sold roofing, siding, and windows. This job was a great opportunity for me to get to learn the process of sales and hone in on those skills. I did the sales job for a number of years and then moved into more of a corporate role at a telecom company. Finally I moved into my current job with JK Renewables. I started as a senior vice president and have moved into the role of executive vice president. I was brought on to basically run the sales team at JK Renewables. It has been really cool to see the department grow and develop over the years. I am glad to get to be a part of it.
We are a residential and commercial solar company. We operate all across the country. The company began in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware and has slowly grown to where we are today. We have operations in Texas and Florida as well. We have the ability to work in just about all 50 states. Like I said, we do residential and commercial work. We do small business all the way up to industrial. We could put solar on anything. We particularly love to work with small businesses because we ourselves are technically a small business. We love to help the people in that same realm with us.
Q: What do you love most about what you do?
I love helping people. Whether it is a customer or a fellow employee, I love getting in the weeds and helping to explain how things work. I also love getting to walk people through getting solar on their property.
Q: What are some places you frequent in the community?
Our schedules are pretty dependent on the kids these days. Our weekends now are a lot of rotating between taking the boys to swim and their little gym classes. Every Friday night you can find us at Warrington Pizza. We also really enjoy Warwick Brewery.
Q: Where is your favorite spot you have traveled to and where do you want to go next?
For our honeymoon my wife and I went to St. Martin’s. I really loved that. I can’t wait to go to Hawaii sometime soon. That is top of the list. My wife and I have a goal where we do one domestic trip every year and one international trip every 2 years. Once our kids get a bit older we hope to make this happen more.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I really enjoy watching sales movies. I find them funny because some of it is realistic but a lot of it is not. It is fun to watch famous actors play sales people. Tommy Boy is one that stands out to me. I think people really underestimate the sales in that movie because it is a comedy. I think there are a lot of good sales in it though. I also really like superhero movies. As far as TV shows go my wife and I love Law and Order SVU. We also watch a lot of Bluey and Trash Truck in our house these days.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Sometimes going with the flow is great, but sometimes going against the flow is great. It really is about trusting your gut. I consider myself the class clown. I have learned that sometimes saying something against the status quo will help you to stand out in a good way. Also, just don’t take things too seriously.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I would love to see the pyramids one day. I don’t think I will ever really do this, but I would love to climb Mount Everest one day.
Q: What is your favorite band or music genre?
I mostly turn on some classic rock if I’m picking the music.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive or dead; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
We would probably go to one of those all you can eat Brazilian Steakhouses. I would probably take Chris Farley and Ed O’Neill if I could take two. I think it would be a great conversation. Plus they would both appreciate a good Brazilian Steakhouse.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully I am doing more oversight at my job, because the company will have grown so much. I would love to be where we live now, but maybe in a bigger home. I would also love to have some investment properties.
Q: What is your favorite holiday and why?
Thanksgiving is a lot of fun. My wife’s family does Christmas at Thanksgiving because a lot of people visit from out of town. It is a lot of fun. We do a big football or kickball game every year.
Q: What words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Wherever my family is, that is where home is for me. Even if we are not at our house I feel at home when I am with my wife and our boys.
