I love, love, love Pennsylvania. Ever since I was a little girl hiking in Utah’s Bryce Canyon or helping out on the Fourth of July at Montana’s National historic site Grant Kohrs Ranch I always had Philadelphia on my mind. I am incredibly grateful to be living near this great city where great thinks were thought. Situated perfectly between beaches and mountains, and two metropolitan cities I couldn’t ask for more…except for the change of seasons. Pennsylvania gives great seasonal changes in its foliage. One of things that brought me to Holland was the great school district. Council Rock was the right place for my son to go. The bonus to all of this is that I have great neighbors!

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My family is the bestest family (yes i used bestest). Richard, my son, is now 27 years old. He has struck out on an entrepreneur adventure, capitalizing on his ability to build and manage high power computers. And his love of music, gosh, he plays drums and it brings me joy to hear him mixing percussion with his friends instrumentals. My husband was born and raised near Holland. I knew I had a good match when I met his parents. His mom and dad, my “mommy” and “daddy” are two of the most gracious and beautiful people one could ever meet. Husband owns a trucking company. I knicknamed him Dr. Dolittle. He is exceptionally kind to all animals. Our fur babies bring him a lot of joy.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have spent the bulk of my work life doing sales & marketing in different industries. My favorite industry was foodservice. Hospitality people are super fun to work with. I have travelled the most of the USA and spent some time outside the country making sales. Recently, I have worked with leaders in our local communities. In 2020 I was appointed First Deputy in Bucks County’s Recorder of Deeds office to the Recorder Robin Robinson. When I first came into the office she was in the middle of a historic preservation project. Did you know that Bucks County has original property records signed by William Penn? Or that some of the oldest records in our County are manumissions? (Look that word up). Robin put me to task to modernize the way we archive your property records. The challenge of this project is one of the things I like the most, next to helping you, the public, and the great staff in the office.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
When I have a taste for south of the border I go to El Barrio. I love the modern twist the put on Mexican food. It’s always fresh and seasoned perfectly. For a quick but delicious breakfast I pop in to Jake’s Eatery. It’s true…they have the best pancakes around! When I’m in the mood for ambience and American Cuisine you’ll find me at Almshouse 59.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We moved to Holland in 2004 and intend to stay here past retirement. We love our quiet neighborhood and the perfect location to Phila, NYC, the beaches, and the mountains.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Do I have to pick? I honestly haven’t met anybody who isn’t interesting. There are so many different voices and experiences shared with me by others. We have a truly remarkable and fun community.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Right now? I’d go to two places. First would be Scotland so my husband could have a golf experience of a lifetime. Then, I would want to time the trip so that we could attend the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The second place would be a jump across the North Sea to Denmark to find relatives and to see where my family came from.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I’m a science fiction fan and I like a little bit of fantasy. Anything Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter is on the ticket for me. And TV shows? It’s a tie between The Sopranos and Game of Thrones. They are both incredibly epic.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Be impeccable with your word. Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Travelling to Europe, Scotland, Denmark, and such are on my bucket list. Besides those two places I’d also be thrilled to visit Greece, visit the old ruins and see the land that myths revered.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I literally wore out two cassette tapes of Def Leppard Hysteria back in the day. I listened to Enya so many times the CD started skipping. My taste in music is wide ranging. But when I can’t decide on something pop I’ll find my friends Mozart and Beethoven.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
There’s a great little coffee roaster/coffee shop, Richboro Coffee & Roastery on Almshouse Rd. The owner, who is an eye doctor in his spare time, selects and roasts a brilliant selection of coffees right here in town.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Mike Tyson. I saw him on Broadway. This man is an intellectual and has a very real and unique take on life, what it is, what we should do with it. I’d love to pick his brain. I’d take him to Almshouse 59. The ambience is perfect for dining and chatting at the same time.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Did you know Joan Rivers had a home here in Northampton Township? Its on Beverly Drive. No, seriously. Beverly Drive just off Almshouse Road. Her estate has it now, but it’s there and apparently it has a studio in it as well as all the Hollywood glam one might expect from her.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
My husband an I intend to stay in our neighborhood until retirement and maybe longer. We’ve been here long enough to watch children continue to be born here, grow up here, and go away to college from here. It’s keeping us young!

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I’m sure there are some very interesting things about me, but gosh, you’re making me blush. I’ve talked a lot about myself already.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Of all the places I’ve been, from Barbados to Glacier National Park, and from California to Washington DC, I’d say Bryce Canyon in southern Utah is the most beautiful place I have ever been. It is remarkable, magnificent, awe inspiring. It’s a system of canyons and red rock towers that are weaved in and out of each other, worn by weather and telling the history of our climate. Sometimes, just before summer starts and the tourist season kicks into high gear, Winter will shower snow on the red soil, red cliff faces and the pine tree branches are kissed softly with a glistening white.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Rather than a favorite month I have a favorite season – FALL. The beauty of leaves changing colors, the rustling sound of the leaves falling, the splendor of browns, golds, reds, and oranges sparkling up the air as the leaves fall from gentle winds. There’s a crispness in the air in the fall that’s refreshing, and the cool evenings guarantee a fire in the backyard with friends visiting will happen.
